Economic growth in forecast for N.B.

Economic expansion in New Brunswick is forecast to remain moderate, with a growth of two per cent in 2008 and 2.5 per cent in 2009, according to the latest forecast by RBC.
Craig Wright, chief economist for RBC, said strong market conditions for metals, fertilizers and energy are helping to drive New Brunswick's economy despite problems in the forestry sector. Construction continues to be a mainstay of activity in both residential and non-residential sectors.
The report said the province's domestic demand is fueled by healthy employment gains, although the pace of job creation will likely taper off somewhat from last year's huge gains.
