On Friday Oct. 3, the organizers presented their program for this year's World Wine and Food Expo. A number of activities and seminars are going to be offered at the Moncton event. This week I share with you some information on few seminars of interest.

* HOW DOES A NEW WINE FIND A HOME IN NEW BRUNSWICK?

Ever wonder how a new wine finds its way onto a shelf at your local Alcool NB Liquor store? When the somewhat complicated process is explained by ANBL Category Manager -- Wine and Sommelier Chris MacDonald, the answer will be interesting, enlightening and fun.

Join Chris as he leads us through the approval process which includes wine quality evaluation, label attractiveness and a wine's overall perceived value. And you can be sure that Chris will be listening to your comments as at least one of the eight wines discussed and tasted will eventually be recommended for listing in New Brunswick. Have your say!

This takes place on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 1 p.m. at the Moncton Coliseum Complex-Entrance '0'-Mezzanine level.

* HOW TO BECOME A GREAT WINE TASTER

Have you ever wondered how you can smell roses in a wine or how come some people can recognize a wine without knowing what is in the glass? Well if you want to learn the tricks on how to become a great wine taster, this is a seminar not to be missed. As NB Liquor's official Sommelier, I will share with you tips and advice on how to improve your tasting skills. I will use some of my favourite wines from the ANBL Selection Wine portfolio.

* CHAMPAGNE, BUBBLES & TAPAS CELEBRATION

This Champagne & Bubbles Adventure will be served with Tapas at Café Mosaïque in Dieppe.

Come discover the cuisine of the Chef Marcel Richard paired with the best sparkling wines from the 18th World Wine Food and Expo. During this evening, the world of sparkling wines will be explained to you -- and you will discover if the difference between Champagne and other sparkling wines. This activity is an excellent occasion to perfect your knowledge about food and wine pairings with delicious Tapas (tasty bites) from Chef Richard.

* FOOD & WINE DINNER WITH AUGUSTO BOFFA FROM PIO CESARE WINERY LOCATED IN THE PIEDMONT REGION OF ITALY

Piedmont is one of the most prestigious wine regions of Italy and the world. Come to discover the wines of this fabulous region with Mr. Boffa, a member of the family of the respected Pio Cesare winery. This great tasting will be paired with some savory dishes from Chef Andew Parker of Mavericks restaurant in Moncton.

For tickets, please contact Mavericks restaurant at 855-3346. This takes place Thursday Nov. 6, from 7 to 10 p.m.

* GREAT LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Every year, these types of seminars and activities are quite popular and they tend to sell out fast. These are very occasions to extend your knowledge on the beautiful world of wine. WWFE is the only show in Atlantic Canada offering a large selection of seminars, so I encourage you to take advantage of it.
