Big Brothers/Sisters seminar Sept. 7

The Moncton Golf Academy will host a Big Brothers/Big Sisters instruction seminar on Sunday, Sept. 7.

The 4-hour program to be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. will touch all the basics of the game.

"We're excited to put on a day like this,'' said Academy owner Terry Stewart. "It's great to introduce kids and their big brothers, big sisters to the sport. Probably most have never had much exposure to the game so this is special for everybody involved.''

An estimated 40 big brothers, big sisters have already registered for the day.

Stewart said both family and golf fans are welcome to attend the seminar. "We're going to be touching a lot of subjects so it's an opportunity for everybody to pick up a few tips about the game,'' he said.

Donna McGuire of Big Brothers/Big Sisters said the day is going to be a tremendous hit.

"Already we have a good turnout,'' she said. "A lot of children that we serve never have had an opportunity to do this so it's a great experience. For bigs and little's to spend some time together at a different sport is tremendous.''

A special sandwich lunch for the group will be provided by Joan MacNair, Orris Garland, Jean MacDonald and Marg Stratton.
