144 A LTTLE IS A LOT
Luk 16:10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.
You will find me continually picking at small points like white lies, breaking traffic laws, manipulating contracts to gain a few more pennies, little courtesies and small acts of kindness done at random. These ‘little things’ all add up to the total of ones heart and can reveal to you ones real attitude.
A contractor that can save you a few bucks by buying cheaper materials is not someone that you want to build your home; the one that you hope to live in for 50 years.
That person that J walks and gets angry at the motoring public for not giving them the right-of-way when they don’t have it is not the person that you want to teach your children how to survive down town.
Most of us would not think of buying a million dollar retirement investment fund from a used car salesman but we do.
Judges make major decisions in people’s lives by how well or how poorly they can convince them that they are right.
You let the first salesman out the door sell you a car just because he talks like he knows what he is talking about.
Many people would deliberately steal or cheat if they could get a lot out of it but they continually steal and cheat in small ways without thinking about it. Shoppers will steal fruit at the produce counter and eat it while they shop, then not mention it at the checkout counter; they have just become a thief for 50 cents.
How many of you have heard the saying “I don’t speed, I only go 10 Km over the speed limit.”? Isn’t 10 Km over the limit 10 Km over the limit?
Where does God’s word say that a little lie is OK as long as it’s not bigger than a housefly it’s not a lie?
Habits take time to develop and are generally accurate from small to large. A person that will not lie to you about small details will be honest with you about the more serious stuff.
A contractor that will not hedge on small government regulations will build you a house to code and will not be afraid to let the inspectors check it over.
When you want to find an honourable person check out the little things in their life and see how they are done.
When you want to be honest before God, start with the small things and be honest about them all; by the time you are done with the small things you will find that the big things are no longer big.
It works the same for love; love a little now and a little later and a whole bunch of little loves in between and, the next thing you know, you will have a whole lot of love from a little beginning.
Wouldn’t you like to hear;
Mat 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
