146 I’M GOING TO

146 I’M GOING TO

1Co 4:6 And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

There was a time that I, like many today, worked at and thought about my own importance and, even though I was humiliated many times, tried to think of myself as all important. I was a subscriber to the popular thought of ‘look after number one’.

After Jesus introduced Himself to me and I accepted Him, I am learning my proper place and work at others’ importance and the unimportance of thinking about me.

I find that I have to work hard at humility because the devil is always present and continually reminds me of the hurts others do to me and how I should be taking for myself. He says things like ‘God would want me to have it for good’, ‘look what he did to you; a CHRISTIAN’ and ‘I’ve worked hard and deserve to have it’; you know, the usual lies.

Because I have spent so much time trying to think of others, first, and myself as less important, I have developed this into a habit and find it very difficult to promote myself but I am going to try this once.

I have written a book titled ‘Charlie; the family edition’ It is a Christian western. I grew up enjoying and collect the older, clean western books written by authors like Max Brand, Zane Grey and Louis L’Amour, so my book is set in the old west with Indians, soldiers and gunslingers but my hero is a Christian with a respect for good morals and righteousness.

It is called ‘the family edition’ because I wanted it to be an heirloom dedicated to my father and to pass down to our family descendants. I have used my father’s name as the name of my hero and have used all of my children’s names as characters as well as other family names and Christian friend’s names. I have tried to put them in character with their personalities as best that I could.

Because of the names, this is a limited edition and, I hope, will become a collectable. If I rewrite it for a non Christian audience, I will change the names and make its content rougher.

I know that this is an advertisement but if you like the old westerns like I do, you might enjoy this book and couldn’t if you didn’t know about it. I have another started and like writing very much.

If you want to check the book out, it is in The Olive Branch in New Maryland [just south of Fredericton on highway 101 in New Maryland] and La Bonne Nouvelle, at 251 St. George Street in Moncton, New Brunswick, has some.

I’m also hoping to put it on E-bay at my site ‘mestephentoo’

You, the readers, will tell me if it is any good if you buy it. Thank you all and I will try not to do this again. God should be getting ALL the glory for anything that I am and do.

1Pe 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Blog: Always Learning

Hi. I am Stephen Porter; a Christian who is also a normal everyday working person. I have been a Christian for over 30 years. God has gone to a great deal of trouble to let us know Him intimately and to help us understand His way of doing things, so this blog is simply my attempt to help you know and understand God in today's ordinary world. I will not argue with anyone but I will try to expand on your understanding by answering as many questions as my time will allow.
