The early bird winners in the Hand in Hand Dream Lottery were chosen yesterday at the contest's grand prize dream home in Dieppe.

Dr. Denise Gallant of Bouctouche won the first early bird prize of $50,000 and Thomas Doucette of Moncton won the second prize of $25,000.

The 19,320 tickets purchased before June 14 at 11 p.m. were eligible for yesterday's draw.

Claude Pare, co-president of the draw and the Hand in Hand committee, a partnership between the Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation and the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Foundation, said there are still 1,048 prizes left to be won and urged those interested to act quickly, as there were only 2,500 tickets available as of June 25.

The two early bird winners were chosen by Bill Whalen of The Moncton Hospital Foundation and Pare, in the garage of the $700,000 grand prize bungalow. About 40 spectators were in attendance.

The contest marks the first time the charitable foundations from each hospital have worked together on a fundraising project.

Pare said the partnership has been a success so far.

"There have been some very positive comments about the two foundations joining together for a project like this," he said. "If we were to repeat this (contest), it could almost be sure we'd work together again."

The second grand prize in the contest is a nine-night vacation to Germany, a 2009 BMW 528xi Sedan and $15,000 cash.

There are four other cars to be won including a 2009 Chevy Malibu, a 2009 Ford Flex Crossover, a 2009 Harley Davidson VRSC Night Rod Special and a 2009 Toyota Yaris.

Eleven other world-wide vacations are up for grabs, as well as nearly 1,000 other prizes including electronics, and sports and recreation equipment.

The top prize dream home is valued at $700,000 and backs onto the first hole of the Fox Creek Golf Club.

The home boasts over 4,000 square feet of living space and comes fully furnished with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a large kitchen, dining room and a two-car garage.

Tickets for the Dream Lottery are $100 each or three for $250.

The final draw will be held Monday, July 20 at the show home located at 16 Maurice St., Dieppe.

The deadline to purchase tickets is July 5 at 11 p.m.

Proceeds from the lottery will be used by both foundations to fund projects at the hospitals.

Tickets for the Hand in Hand Dream Lottery can be purchased from The Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation at 135 MacBeath Ave, Moncton, the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Foundation at 330 Université Avenue, Moncton, the Fox Creek Golf Course at 200 Rue de Golf, Dieppe and the Dream Home at 16 Maurice Crescent, Dieppe.

The Dr. will need that $50,000 now that her wage was frozen...

Hey AA... are you trying to say that she should have refused the 50000$ just because she's probably has a few $$$ saved up? Like SR said, she paid for her ticket like everyone else, she deserves it.

Of course it was a doctor who won with her $100 ticket... who else could afford to buy one?

Wage freezes are tough, but what the auto workers got in Ontario was much tougher. Suck it up buttercup.

My comment was tongue in cheek.

And you are right, she did pay her ticket, so great, I never said she didn't "deserve it".

Gongrat on the winning ... Even if she a doctor what does that matter she bought her ticket like everyone else anyone could have one if it would have been someone else other than a doctor that would have won no one would make a big fuss . She has as much right to win good for her and her family . Im sure she has bills to pay . Anonymous Andy if your that jelous why didn't you buy a ticket you would could have the chance to win ... I find that people who make a big fuss over something like this are just jealous . Come on there more to important stuff to worry about ....
