RCMP in northern New Brunswick will have an increased presence on the roads this weekend to keep an eye out for problems.

Restigouche-Chaleur RCMP officers will be looking for excessive speeding, seat-belt violations and impaired drivers, with a zero tolerance policy in effect.

In addition, check stops will be set up at different locations throughout the weekend.

Police say the goal is to get impaired drivers off the road and to enforce motor vehicle regulations, but their most important task is to protect the public and maintain safe roads.
