Barra MacNeils perform Dec. 19
The Barra MacNeils Celtic Christmas Concert will be held Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at St. John's United Church, 75 Alma St., in Moncton. Tickets cost $32 each and are available at St. John's Church Office (858-8289), Read's Newsstand (985 Main St. Moncton), and MacArthur's Flower Shop (360 Mountain Road. Moncton).
Chorale practice
The Greater Moncton Chorale will be holding its practices at First United Church every Monday at 7 p.m. Membership fee is $50 per term. The chorale is well known for a wide variety of repertoire, including major choral works, jazz arrangements, sacred anthems and show tunes. Everyone is welcome.
Memorial tree
St. James Presbyterian Church in Beersville will be lighting a Christmas tree in memory of loved ones. Memorial bulbs are available at $10 each by calling Doreen at 785-4574 or Audrey at 785-1983.
Candlelight Christmas service
A candlelight Christmas service will be held at the Fisher Hill Baptist Church on Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. Join in with Christmas caroling and special music. Refreshments to be served following the service. Fisher Hill is located about 28 kilometres north of the intersection of Morton Avenue and McLaughlin Drive. The church is about two kilometres east of McLaughlin Road on Fisher Hill Road. Transportation from the intersection of the Fisher Hill and McLaughlin Road to the church will be available.
Gospel concert at West Lane
'Judy and the Boys' will be in concert Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the West Lane Baptist Church (the corner of Garfield Street). A freewill offering and fellowship will follow.
The Eagles family
On Nov. 23 at 6 p.m. the Eagles Family will be sharing their music with Hillside Baptist Church, 2290 Mountain Road. Ron, Sandra and their children play a variety of musical instruments including the cello, flute, trumpet and violin. All are invited to share in this special evening of inspirational music and family harmony with the Eagles Family. A free will offering will be taken.
John Sands
John Sands Performance at Trinity United Church (85 Old Coach Road in Riverview) will be held Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. and will be a evening of tranquil music for the soul. Coffee party
Ladies are invited to attend the 'Tis the Month Before Christmas' coffee party, Nov. 25 at 9:30 a.m. at Wedgewood Hall, 1201 Mountain Road in Moncton. The event will feature Christmas decorations by Kim Evans of Maggie's Flower Shop, Golden Notes by Betty Adshade, and the special guest speaker Cecil Symes who will talk about conquering fear with 'In The Valley of the Shadow.' Auction
There will be a talent auction at Steeves Memorial United Church at 280 Salisbury Road on Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. All are welcome to come bid on food, services, crafts and more. For more information call Arnold Hoar at 381-3527.
Bake sale and auction
St. John's Anglican Church in Salisbury will be holding their annual bake sale and auction on Nov. 27 beginning at 7 p.m. in the church basement at the corner of Fredericton Road and Kaye Street. Come and enjoy a fun evening with light refreshments provided. Everyone is welcome.
Men's breakfast
Don Cherry's Bar and Grill will host a men's breakfast Nov. 29 at 9 a.m. The guest speaker will be Bill Parks of Hockey Ministries International. A free-will offering will be accepted and a free book 'Wild at Heart' by John Eldridge will be given to every man present.
Fiddlin' Turkey Dinner Theatre
A turkey dinner with theatre entertainment will be provided Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. inside the St. Augustine's Church Basement with Fiddlin' Friends, plus a turkey dinner with all trimmings. The price is $15 each. The event is hosted by St. Augustine's Knights of Columbus Council #7940 which sponsors the Ray of Hope Needy Kitchen Inc. Only 200 tickets will be sold and table group reservations are being accepted. Tickets are available from the parish office (857-4223), Pat Bennett (384-3322) and Jean-Guy Fournier (384-3474).
Pancake supper
There will be a pancake, bean, potato scallop and sausage supper on Nov. 29 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the First North River Baptist Church Christian Education Center, 374 Wheaton Settlement Road in Intervale. Freewill donations will go towards the Building Fund.
Annual bazaar
The Bethel Presbyterian Church (600 Coverdale Rd., Riverview) will be holding their annual bazaar Nov. 29, 8:30 to 11 a.m. 'New to you' items will be featured as well as home baking and crafts. Tea, coffee, muffins, biscuits and cheese will be served. Admission is free.

Free lecture
The Rev. Canon Eric Beresford (ethicist, scholar, writer, former faculty member at McGill University in the Environmental Studies and the Religious Studies departments, former Consultant for Ethics and Interfaith Public Relations of the Anglican Church of Canada, current President of Atlantic School of Theology, Halifax) will offer a free public lecture on "Private Words in Public: Faith Commitments & Public Policy Debate," Nov. 30 at 3 p.m. at the Central United Church, 150 Queen St. in Moncton. Pizza and conversation follows.
Candlelight service
The 34th annual Mount Royal United Church Women Advent candlelight service will be held Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. at Mount Royal Church (on the corner of Mount Royal Boulevard and Bessborough Avenue). Everyone is welcome to a time of fellowship. Refreshments follow the service.
All attending are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the food bank. The theme of the event is hope.
Sounds of the season
The musical group "Transition -The Mercy Singers" will host its 3rd Annual Christmas Concert titled "Sounds Of The Season" at the Pointe Du Chene Our Lady Of Mercy Church (located at 11 St Andrew Street) on Dec. 14th at 7:30 p.m.. Admission to the concert is $10 each with children ages 12 and under free. The concert will also feature special guests Kim Bishop, a jazz singer" from Kentville N.S. as well as Dorothy Brzezicki (harpist virtuoso), Brenda and Lauren Barnes (a duo on the piano and violin), singer/comedian Patricia Leger, the Donald LeBlanc Trio, Desimil Chalmesin (a bass singer), as well as Larry LeBlanc (tenor). Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 532-2424 or at the door. All are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food items for the local food bank. St. John's United Church Marathon Bridge
A marathon bridge session is being planned for an eight week period, running from Jan. 4 to Feb. 28. Pairs will register to play eight games (to be played in homes, keeping refreshments simple).
A closing luncheon and card party will be held at the St. John's United Church on March 20. Registration is $10 and the luncheon will also cost $10. For information and registration call Clare Morris at 854-0234.
