The 9th Annual Evolve Music and Awareness Festival will be held July 25 to 27 on the shores of Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

Evolve is a grassroots festival that is both a forum for environmental issues and music and a celebration of Maritime life. Organizers say it is devoted to sustainable living, and is the biggest festival of its kind in Canada. Thousands of music fans will attend, many of them travelling from all over Canada.

Evolve has always tried to present the best musical talent available, and organizers say 2008 is no exception. Veteran performers Grand Theft Bus will be there along with other staples of Evolve, such as The Gratefully Deadicated Soundsystem and Slowcoaster, and returning artists That 1 Guy and Hey, Rosetta!, who organizers say were big hits at the festival last year.

For holistic enthusiasts, Evolve will be offering workshops in the Awareness Workshop. These workshops include the wonders of wheatgrass, straw bale house construction, yoga, Reiki, and massage. These workshops, organizers say, will give festival-goers the chance to expand their minds, bodies and souls.

The three-day festival has a family camping area and a general camping area. There will be toilets, clean drinking water and shower stations with running water for all guests. For families coming to the festival, there will be a kid's play zone and music for youngsters, and, as always, an array of food for sale that organizers say will keep everyone satisfied. There will also be crafts and clothing for sale in the vendor's area.

Tickets will be $120 in advance and $135 at the gate. Ticket information and event schedules are available at www.evolvefestival.com.
