School tour
As part of the 25th Anniversary celebrations at Moncton Christian Academy, school tours will be given between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. during class hours, every Thursday. Tours will be approximately 20 minutes in duration. If you are interested in learning more about a Christian-based education, please call the academy to schedule your tour at 855-5403. The school is located at 945 St. George Boulevard in the Moncton Wesleyan Church building.
New church
A new Church is open in Moncton, at 90 Park St. The service is offered in both English and French, Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 2:15 p.m. The focus of the church is a life of prayer.
Roast beef supper
St. Jude's Catholic Church in Salisbury is hosting a roast beef supper on Oct. 19 from 4 to 6 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Tickets are available at the door only.
Community Day of Prayer
The Community Day of Prayer for the areas covering Lower Coverdale to Alma will be held Oct. 14 at the Curryville Community Outreach Centre, 786 Albert Mines Rd. from 3 to 10 p.m.. Thanksgiving service
The Women's Interchurch Council is sponsoring a Thanksgiving service with the ingathering of the least coin at the St. John's Street Stone Church on 87 Carleton St., Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. The speaker is Colin McDonald, who will address working with troubled youth.
Thanksgiving celebration
Moncton's Cornerstone Church (WCG congregation) will be hosting its annual Thanksgiving Celebration this weekend. Church members and friends from throughout the Atlantic region look forward to the event as a special time of worship, celebration, and thanksgiving. Everyone is invited to attend. Special guests this year will be Mr. Gary Moore, Canadian Director of the WCG, and his wife Wendy, National Coordinator for our denomination in South Africa. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday, at 105 Elmwood Dr. in Moncton. Sale
Fill a bag for a $2 at the Truth Tabernacle Church, 50 Lonsdale Dr. in Moncton. This will take place from 6:30 until 8 p.m. on Oct. 17 inside the church.
Annual Mayors' Prayer Breakfast
Hon. Serge LeClerc, provincial cabinet minister, as well as Founder and Regional Director for Teen Challenge Saskatchewan, will be the keynote speaker at the Mayor's 11th Annual Tri-City Mayors' Prayer Breakfast, being held Oct. 17 from 7:15 to 9 a.m. at the Crystal Palace Convention Centre. Gospel concert
There will be a Gospel concert at Church of the Nazarene, 229 McLaughlin Dr. in Moncton on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. with the group Nightwatch. A freewill offering to be taken and refreshments will be served afterwards.
Service of Remembrance
Annual Memorial Service of Remembrance at the Elmwood Cemetery, 200 Elmwood Drive in Moncton on Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. Participants will include the Rev. Rob Salloum, Sunny Brae Legion #54, pipers Stephen and Jason MacLeod and the 650 Governor General Vanier Squadron Band. Refreshments will be available and a chauffeured vehicle will provide interpretative tour of cemetery grounds, including urn and columbarium gardens, courtesy of Moncton Chrysler. If there is inclement weather, the service will be held at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, located at 105 Elmwood Drive in Moncton.
Memorial Hymn Sing
The Hillsborough United Church in Hillsborough will hold their 4th annual Memorial Hymn Sing on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.
Country fair
A country fair is being held at Moncton's Central United Church located at 150 Queen St. on Oct. 25, featuring a pancake breakfast with free will offering. The event is being held from 8 to 11 a.m. Also on site will be a candy shop, harvest bounty, home cooking and a silent auction. Booths will be open from 8 a.m. to noon.
New to you sale
St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, 28 Woolridge Ave., Riverview is having their annual fall New to You Sale on Oct. 25 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. You will find good used clothing for all ages, shoes, many toys, household items and books. Muffin and coffee will also be for sale. Please use the basement entrance.
Men of the Deeps
Saint John's United Church in Moncton is presenting the Men of the Deeps in concert on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each and are available from church members or at the church office between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. For more information, please phone 858-8289.
Conflict, disaster prayer service
A worship and prayer will be held for all countries being affected by war and natural disasters on Oct. 26 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Christ in Action Church, 90 Park St. in Moncton. For more information 393-1912.
Seminar rescheduled
Due to unforeseen circumstances 'The Weekend with Rev. Gordon Williams at the Congregational Christian Church,' originally scheduled for Nov. 1 will be rescheduled for a later date.
Luncheon
A fish chowder luncheon will be held at the Central United Church, 150 Queen St. in Moncton, on Nov. 5 between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Cost is $10 and there is a limited amount of tickets available. Call 857-3186. Luncheon will feature home baking and crafts.
Annual 'Holly Tea'
St. Bernard's Catholic Women's League is holding its annual 'Holly Tea' on Sat. Nov. 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. inside the Church Hall at 43 Botsford St. in Moncton. There will be a bake table, craft table, white elephant table and door prizes. Tickets are $8 per adult and $3.50 for children under 12. Sermon prize
As part of its Spirit-Talk program, the Wesley Memorial United Church invites Maritime preachers to submit a sermon on the theme: "Journeying into God's Future." To be considered, a sermon must be biblically rooted, addressing the theme: "Journeying into God's Future." The sermon may be from a text of the preacher's choice or from the suggested texts: Numbers 10:29, Matthew 2:1-12. The sermon is to be submitted on an audio cassette and accompanied by a manuscript by Oct. 27 at noon. The prize is $500.00 plus travel expenses to Moncton to deliver the winning sermon on Nov. 9, 2008, at the afternoon service at Wesley Memorial United Church. Chorale practice
The Greater Moncton Chorale will be holding its practices at Central United Church, 150 Queen St., every Monday at 7 p.m. Membership fee is $50 per term. The chorale is well known for a wide variety of repertoire, including major choral works, jazz arrangements, sacred anthems and show tunes. Everyone welcome.
