In what has become an annual tradition, the City of Moncton will hold its bicycle auction tomorrow morning.

"It depends on the weather, but we've seen an increase in the number of people attending, particularly over the past couple of years," says Tanya Carter, who works in the city's purchasing department.

"If anyone is looking for an inexpensive solution for green transportation, they're welcome to come down."

The auction, held at D&M Auction Centre at 75 Millennium Boulevard, will feature approximately 100 bicycles. Pre-auction viewing starts at 8 a.m., with the auction beginning at 10 a.m.

The bicycles to be auctioned come from Codiac RCMP.

They've either been seized as stolen goods within the City of Moncton or are unclaimed lost property.

People have 90 days to claim the bikes from police, but after that, they go to the auction.

The money raised at the auction goes into the city's general revenue fund and Carter says the event normally brings in about $4,500.

Purchases can be made with cash, debit card, Visa or Mastercard and all sales are final.
