Moncton sets pesticide position
Published Monday September 8th, 2008

It will likely come as no surprise if you've noted the City of Moncton's longstanding leadership in banning cosmetic pesticides, but now city council, a new city council at that, has formalized its position.
At its meeting last Tuesday, council formulated its official response to a discussion paper on lawn care and landscape pesticide use prepared by the provincial Department of Environment.
The council position, first formulated by the Sustainable Environment committee, is that the province should introduce new legislation that would include a provincewide prohibition against the retail sale of most domestic lawn care and landscape pesticide products and a provincewide prohibition against the use of most lawn care and landscape pesticides products in residential areas and public spaces.
