
Gas drops 5.8¢

Pump prices across the province took another significant drop at midnight.
Gas prices fell by almost 6 cents per litre, while diesel prices dropped by 3.4 cents per litre.
The maximum price for regular self-serve gasoline dropped 5.82 cents per litre to 85.01 cents.
Mid-grade self-serve dropped to 88.40 cents per litre from 94.22, while premium self-serve dropped to 91.79, down from 97.61 cents per litre last week.
The price of diesel dropped by 3.4 cents per litre to sit at 111.69 cents per litre.
Furnace oil dropped to 92.91 cents, down 3.45 cents per litre from last week. Propane was set to 93.82 cents, a drop of 3.25 cents per litre.
Yesterday, the price of a barrel of oil fell $3.50 to settle at US$56.16 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It was the lowest closing price since January 2007.
On January 31 2007, the price of a barrel of oil hit US$56.97. On that day, the maximum retail price in New Brunswick was $84.41.
The N.B. benchmark rate is based on the average daily price at the N.Y. Harbor division of the N.Y. Mercantile Exchange. Prices listed here do not include the up to two-cent per litre delivery charge.
