Dead man's identity still unknown

Body was found on side of Mapleton Road over a year ago
It's been a year since a man was found dead on the side of Mapleton Road, but police say they are no closer to learning his identity.
Codiac RCMP Cpl. Mike Gaudet says it's sad to think someone in their mid-40s could die and there's no one to come forward and identify him.
"Someone must have come across him somewhere," he says. "He must have touched someone during his 40-something years."
The man was found the morning of Dec. 2, lying on the shoulder of the road, not far from Highway 2. He was lightly covered in snow, leading police to believe he was there since the previous night.
The man is described as being of average height, with a slim build, dark brown hair and an unkempt beard. He was wearing an old grey down-filled jacket, two leather jackets, blue jeans, a blue toque and blue mittens and was carrying no identification.
Because of the way he was dressed, police think he may have been homeless.
"Our thoughts are this is a homeless person, most likely from out of the province, passing through," says Gaudet. "The highway goes right along Mapleton, where he was found."
The photo and information about the man have been passed along to police departments all over Canada but no concrete information has resulted. Gaudet says they had calls from some jurisdictions investigating missing persons cases, such as Nova Scotia, but they weren't a match. He says it's possible this man is from outside the country, which could explain the difficulty in finding someone who knows him.
Police are fairly certain he's not from Moncton or New Brunswick because there has been ample media coverage of the case since the man was found a year ago.
An autopsy conducted shortly after he was found determined he died from exposure to the elements, most likely hypothermia.
A tree was planted in Moncton earlier this year by anti-poverty groups who wanted to leave a living memorial to the unidentified man.

If everyone were to forward this story to people in their contacts list, & those people in turn did the same,maybe someone would know someone who could identify this person, & he could be laid to rest.
There are a lot of homeless people out there, & it's going to get worse.
My sister works at a youth health clinic in BC & sees many young people who work, but can only afford either a beat up old car (that they sleep in) or rent at a flophouse - never both.They haven't given up hope, but are stuck in a poverty cycle because of not having a permanent address, phone number, or decent education. They're not all drug addicts, many come from bad home situations, or they've been in foster care all their lives & just had enough.
