Metro enjoying mild temperatures, early fall-like conditions

Mother Nature's three-week honeymoon with New Brunswick is not expected to end any time in the near future.

Weather forecasters are in agreement that mostly sunny skies and unseasonably high temperatures will continue for the next while in the province and across Canada.

It is fairly safe to say that these conditions will likely persist through the rest of this month, said Patrick O'Hara of Germantown, Md., a meteorologist for Weatherbug.com.

"And we are talking about a very large area of land, here," O'Hara said yesterday in a phone interview. He said it entails Canada all from the eastern Rockies to Newfoundland and the entire northern half of the United States covering the same distance.

He noted that both countries are benefitting from a northern loop in the jet stream blocking out the Arctic air masses.

There is "nothing like a cold snap, snowfall or even snowflurries" indicated for Metro Moncton over the next seven to 10 days, said the Weaterbug.com spokesman. In fact, it will seem more like October or at times, September, until the end of the month, he said.

It certainly seemed that way yesterday afternoon, underlined by the sight of people wearing short-sleeved sweatshirts outside in communities throughout southeastern New Brunswick. "It is rare to be able go out in a sweatshirt in late November," noted one resident.

O'Hara said Metro Moncton, which basked under temperatures of 16C (61F) yesterday, can expect cloudy conditions today and tomorrow but it will be dry with temperatures up to 10C (50F). He said Monday will see sunny skies with a high of 6C (43F).

Metro will receive some light rainshowers on Tuesday, but the temperature is expected to climb to 13C (55F), said the meteorologist. And mostly sunny conditions are expected to prevail on Wednesday and Thursday, he said, with a projected high of 12C (54F).

More unseasonably mild temperatures and dry conditions are anticipated for Moncton for Friday and next weekend, said O'Hara.

The Weather Network is also calling for the warm and dry weather to continue this weekend and through most of next week and weekend, the only exception being some light showers on Wednesday and Thursday. Double-digit highs should prevail from Tuesday at least through next Thursday, they suggest.

Environment Canada is predicting the high to range anywhere from 5 to 10C (50 to 46F) over the next seven to 10 days in Metro Moncton. And most of the time, they add, they will be accompanied by sunny skies.

The Farmers' Almanac is predicting dry and cold weather over the next three days for New Brunswick. However, over the remainder of the week and weekend, they forecast wet weather to dominate.
