Tender issued for new coast guard headquarters

DARTMOUTH, N.S. - The federal government has issued a tender call for companies interested in designing and building a new coast guard headquarters for the Maritimes. Federal Fisheries Minister Gail Shea says the project is one of a series of moves designed to consolidate coast guard activities at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography in Dartmouth, N.S. The tender closes in January and a contract will be awarded shortly afterwards with construction completed by the summer of 2011.

The headquarters will be located at BIO.
