CHARLOTTETOWN - School bus service is set to resume on Prince Edward Island on Monday, but Education Minister Gerard Greenan cautioned that not all buses will be back on the road.

He said yesterday that 24 buses recently purchased by the province have been inspected and will be used to fill gaps in service.

Greenan said the province is also looking at leasing buses from other jurisdictions.

"Steps have been taken to ensure that school and school bus services continue while some buses are out of service for inspection," he said.

"Buses that are inspected and deemed by Transportation and Public Works to be structurally sound, will be returned to the fleet immediately.

"Finally, some buses will make extra trips to ensure that all students get to and from school."

Students were to receive information in school yesterday regarding their bus schedule next week.
