  • Frederick "Fred" Bennett Howard 1935 - 2004 "Fred" B. Howard, of Moncton, passed away at the K. E. Spencer Memorial Home in Moncton on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at the age of 69. Born in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Geoffrey and Kathryn (Rooney) Howard. He was a professional accountant (CMA) and retired from the Federal Government with 38 years of service. He was a member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Parish. Fred was a former member of the Humphrey Lewisville Sunny Brae Lions Club. He is survived by his wife, Marion (Pineau) Howard; son, Geoffrey Howard of Moncton, NB; two daughters, Janice Howard of Fredericton, NB and Gayle Howard of Bathurst, NB; two sisters, Mildred Brydges of Rothesay, NB and Marion Fitzpatrick of Saint John, NB; and by his beloved dog, Josh. It is requested that no viewing or visitation will be held at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Masters Road, Moncton on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at 11:00am with Father Allison Carroll officiating. The family will be receiving relatives and friends immediately following the Funeral Mass in the Church Hall. Internment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Moncton, NB.   • Adeline Gallant SHEDIAC, NB - Adeline Gallant, 86, widow of the late Stanislas Gallant of Résidence O' Bon Soin, Shediac and formerly of Grand-Barachois, passed away on Saturday, November, 13, 2004 at The Dr. Georges-L.Dumont Hospital, Moncton. Born in Cap-Pelé, May 5, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred Landry and the late Antoinette Cormier. She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Rose LeBlanc (Norbert) of Memramcook and Antoinette Petitpas (Vernon) of Shediac; two sons, Jean (Yolande) and Hubert (late Rita) all of Grand-Barachois; a sister, Arch-Angela Cormier (Henri) of Cap-Pelé; a brother, Gérard Landry (late Doris) of Cap-Pelé; seven grandchildren, Dennis, Nicole, Owen, Jean-Marc, Nadine, Pierrette, Jolyne, and Mathieu; three great grandchildren, Joel, Lucas and Cédric. Besides her husband, Stanislas (August, 26, 2004); she was also predeceased by a grandson, Danny; a sister, Lucienne Hebert; a half-sister, Jeanne Gallant and by a brother, Jean-Baptiste.   • Thaxter Johnson ALBERT MINES, NB- The death of Thaxter Johnson, age 86, of Albert Mines, NB, occurred at The Moncton City Hospital on Friday, November 12, 2004. Born in Port Elgin, NB, he was a son of the late Jacob and Margaret (Walton) Johnson. Thaxter enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. His passion was his workshop and he loved spending time with his family. Thaxter will be sadly missed by his seven sons, Thaxter Jr. (Sharon), Hamilton, Roderick (Grace), Midgic, Albert (Eunice), Sackville, Roy (Diane), Aulac, Edward (Brenda), Albert Mines, John (Judy), New Market and Ralph (Holly), Grand Bay; three daughters, Carolyn (Edward) Hicks, Sackville, Joan Fortman (Rae Anderson) and Margaret Johnson (Ray Angeline), both of Hamilton; 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a brother, Arthur, Oshawa. Thaxter was predeceased by his wife, Helen (Harper); and siblings, Ethel, Hazel, Myrtle, Kenneth and Ronald. A special thank you to daughters-inlaw, Albertine and Brenda; along with granddaughter, Tammy and friend, Paulette, for the many hours you spent caring for "PA" during his illness in the hospital. Visiting hours will take place on Monday, November 15, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville, NB, (364-1300).   • Dora (Leger) LeBlanc SHEDIAC, NB - Dora (Leger) LeBlanc, 94, of the Villa Providence, Shediac and formerly of Cocagne passed away on Saturday, November, 13, 2004 at the residence. Born in Cocagne, August 14, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Lévi LeBlanc and Ruphine Goguen. She is survived by a daughter, Emélia Ouellet (Abbey) of Moncton; two sons, Albert (Cecile) and Adrien all of Cocagne; two sisters, Eva Robichaud of Gardner, Mass, Léa Maillet of Cocagne; a brother, René LeBlanc (Doris) of Cocagne; six grandchildren, Christelle, Jacques, Colin, Line, Luc and Marc. She was predeceased by her first husband, Aquila Leger; by her second husband, William LeBlanc; a son, Armand; two brothers, Albert LeBlanc, Edouard LeBlanc; four sisters, Florida LeBlanc, Lina Bourque, Clara Goguen, Alma McNabb. Resting at St-Pierre Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, Cocagne on Tuesday from 2 to 4p.m. and 7 to 9p.m., on Wednesday 2 p.m. until time of Funeral Mass.   • Mabel Clara Bishop 1901 - 2004 RIVERSIDE-ALBERT, NB - Mabel Clara Bishop, 103, of Forest Dale Home, Riverside-Albert, passed away on November 11, 2004 at the nursing home. Mabel was born on October 20, 1901 in Cape Enrage, the daughter of the late Isaiah and Rebecca (Cleveland) Dixon. She was a housewife and mother. She attended the Albert Baptist Church. Mabel loved to do puzzles and enjoyed reading. She will be deeply missed by her four sons, Lloyd Bishop, Cecil Bishop (Doris) both of Okanagan, BC and Clyde Bishop (Evelyn) of The Glades, Donald Bishop of Sydney, NS; daughter-in-laws, Hugette Bishop of Holland Landing, Ontario and Carmen Bishop of Riverside-Albert; a son-in-law, Aubrey Wheaton of Berwick, NS. She will also be missed by several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mabel was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Bishop; a daughter, Shirley Wheaton; two sons, Eldon and Trueman; two daughter-in-laws, Edna and Alma; a sister and several brothers. She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Saturday, November 13 from 2 to 5pm and on Sunday from 10am until the time of service. The funeral service will be held from the Albert County Funeral Home on Sunday, November 14, 2004 at 2pm with Rev. David Keith officiating. Interment will be held in the Bay View Cemetery, Harvey, NB. Donations to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.   • Charles "Allen" Smith 1924 - 2004 Charles "Allen" Smith, of Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, November 12, 2004 at the age of 80. While he was born in Kenville, Manitoba, he grew up in Moncton and was the son of the late Charles A. and Mary (Lewis) Smith. He retired as a sales representative. Allen was a member of Highfield St. United Baptist Church and an honorary member of the Stepping Out 50+ Activity Center. He is survived by his wife, Carrie (Mullin) Smith; daughter, Sharon Gunn (Ian) of Riverview; son, David Smith (Bev) of Moncton; grandchildren, John Gunn and Rob Smith; a sister, Margaret E. Smith-Slingerland (Richard) of Niagara Falls, Ontario; an aunt, Margaret Smith (late James); and several cousins. Resting at Tuttle Bros.   • Earl H. Tait Earl Hall Tait, of Coverdale Road, Riverview, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, November 12, 2004. Born in Sunny Brae, N.B., he was the son of the late Archibald and Bertha (Hall) Tait. Earl was a retired manager from Reed Company Ltd, a division G.E. Barbour Co. Ltd., with 48 years of service. He was a life-time member of the Maritime Commercial Travellers Association. He took great pride in his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren with whom he shared his wonderful sense of humor and many stories. Earl enjoyed horse races, as well as hunting and fishing salmon on the Miramichi and Restigouche Rivers. He is survived by his wife, Alice (Steeves) Tait; son, David Tait (Doreen) of Grand Bay-Westfield, N.B.; daughter, Janet Tait (Willi Knaus) of Kelowna, B.C.; grandchildren, Devin Tait (Josee) and Dr. Aaron Tait (Elizabeth) both of Rothesay, N.B.; and great grandchildren, Andrew and Morgan Tait, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by a brother, Paul Tait. Resting at Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Road, Riverview, on Sunday, November 14, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
