Letter of the day | The Graham government has done a lot for Metro

To The Editor:
I'm writing in response to the letter last week from James Betts criticizing some of the actions of the New Brunswick government.
Though one can nitpick decisions here and there, and certainly the government has had to make tough decisions from time to time, I think that overall the people of New Brunswick are being well served by their provincial government.
Here's a sampling of some 15 accomplishments by the government in Metro Moncton since it took office in October, 2006:
1. $1.5 million for the expansion and renovation of the Moncton Boys and Girls Club;
2. $9.6 million for two new linear accelerators for better radiation therapy at the Georges-Dumont Hospital;
3. $2.66 million in investments in Codiac Transit;
4. $1.8 million for a new trades facility at CCNB Dieppe;
5. $1.75 million for new Ambulatory Care Centre at the Moncton Hospital
6. $1.2 million investment in infrastructure at the Magnetic Hill concert site;
7. 244 new jobs created by the expansion of the Rogers Communications Customer Care Centre in Moncton;
8. 44 new jobs at Tandem Textiles;
9. Virtual Agent Services, with a Canadian head office in Moncton, expanding to 1,500 jobs across New Brunswick;
10. Construction slated to begin this summer on the new Moncton courthouse;
11. A new K-8 school in Moncton to reduce the strain on Evergreen Park;
12. Headquartering of the new New Brunswick Health Council in Moncton;
13. Government action toward the construction of a $68 million bridge to replace the Petitcodiac River Causeway;
14. 75 new nursing home beds in Riverview; and
15. Over $725,000 for community energy systems, public transit and water infrastructure in Dieppe.
This is just a sample of the specific investments and actions by the provincial government in the Metro Moncton region.
The region also benefits from many major province-wide initiatives we have enjoyed.
I am also inspired by a government that believes New Brunswick can become self-sufficient by 2026.
Southeastern New Brunswick can play a key role in self-sufficiency.
I believe that the actions of the Graham government make us well positioned to continue to prosper and grow in the future.

75 new nursing home beds -- private developer --
Amubulatory care -- that was coming before Graham took office!!
Ambulance service (Nova Scotia based) that spends more money 'burning gas' waiting for a call -- very environmentally sound!!
Tax hikes -- based on lies -- with $23,000,000 surplus in same year!!
Vaughan Harvey extension & Gunningsville Blvd -- credit him also!!
Graham and bandits have done more to injure NB in this time period.
The RHA's will save NB a $4 million or about $5/person -- WOW!! But what will be the cost to achieve this big saving?
One good thing, Graham has basically remained quiet during the last 6 months -- now that is a blessing!!
2010!!!
So afraid of change.
Yes, Graham is a hero to spend "our" tax dollars on all these things. You should be thanking all NB tax payers for these things, not Graham and he has done more to hurt Moncton and NB than anything. He and his government keep taking and taking and looking after no one but themselves.
