Hard imagining earning $100,000 plus bonuses

To The Editor:
I just finished reading Wally Stiles Letter of the Day and must say I almost choked on my egg sandwich.
Maybe I am out of touch with reality or our government, but the salaries stated for deputy ministers are outrageous. To earn $128,414 to $148,694 for most of them is preposterous.
I am a taxpayer here in our beautiful province, in a place where I love to call home. I am a main wage earner in a family with a stay at home mom and three kids and I make $35,000 a year. Most of the time it is a struggle making ends meet, Christmas and birthdays are events we have to plan for, and I sure hope my 15-year-old minivan doesn't break or I am in trouble.
I wonder what it would be like to get a bonus for doing my job that I was hired to do?
Even 10 per cent of what I earn would be a windfall to our family. I could not even imagine earning over $100,000 and expecting a bonus.
Maybe we should re-evaluate our hiring process for deputy ministers if we have to entice them to perform with boguses; I mean bonuses.
As far as wage matching with other provinces goes, if the deputy ministers want to get paid the same as Alberta, Ontario or even Nova Scotia, then maybe they should move there and benefit from the extra pay, but also with the higher cost of living.
Hey wait a minute! That will work out for me just right.
The current over-paid deputies can leave for greener pastures, I will take over their position at say, a base of $99,000, I will not even ask for a bonus structure until I prove I can do the job, and then I will leave it up to the public to decide the amount of bonus I get, kind of like a multiple choice answer in elementary school.
Where is the application form?

However, the voting public will only vote for one of two parties in this province.
If the people wanted to send a REAL message, they would vote for only independant candidates. Send ZERO PC's and LIEberals to the house.
THAT would get their attention in a hurry. And maybe a lot more would get done, a lot more useless red tape would be gotten rid of, some common sense would be brought to governement, and taxes would go down because people like you and I would have the common sense to cut stuff that are nothing but huge wastes of money.
But alas, that will never happen!
If you want a job that pays bonuses, get the education and necessary skills.
I bet that won't happen because it takes a lot of hard work to get there.
