BBC Films is reportedly developing the adaptation of the Charlotte Bronte novel.

Page was nominated for an Academy Award for her portrayal of a wisecracking pregnant teen in "Juno."

She's since signed on to several contemporary films, but is not known for her period work.

"Jane Eyre," about the love story of a governess and her master, Edward Rochester, has been filmed numerous times for the big and small screen.

Page will take on the title character, which has been played over the years by actresses including Joan Fontaine and Susannah York.
