A La Goulet motorcyclist suffered head injuries over the weekend when he lost control of his bike and was hit by a second motorcycle.

The incident took place on Highway 8, in Little Bartibog, as the riders were heading towards Miramichi around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Acadian Peninsula RCMP Sgt. Carl Hache says the two friends, one 38 and one 50, were riding side by side when they hit a construction zone where the top layer of asphalt had been removed and they were suddenly on top of grooved pavement.

Hache says the younger man lost control of his bike and fell into the path of the second rider, who then struck him. The man suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

"We don't know if he hit his head on the road or if his head was struck by the other motorcycle," says Hache.
