Published Wednesday August 20th, 2008

Boards are still on sale for Friday's unique fundraiser in Moncton, which will feature a local tae kwon do master attempting to break 1,000 boards in 10 minutes.
Master John Thorley, a fifth-degree black belt who owns Thorley's Tae Kwon Do Academy in Riverview, will attempt to smash through the boards at 8 p.m. Friday in front of The Old Triangle restaurant, 751 Main St., Moncton. Proceeds from the sale of the boards being used will go to the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick Region.
Boards can be purchased for $10 each by buying a ticket at The Old Triangle; Thorley's Tae Kwon Do Academy, 25 Pine Glen Rd., Riverview; or at the United Way office in the Co-op Atlantic building, 123 Halifax St. (side entrance on Purvis Street). They can also be purchased by calling the United Way at 858-8600.
Each $10 ticket also entitles the purchaser to a two-for-one "Original B&E" brunch item at The Old Triangle, valued at $7.99.
The United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick Region provides financial and non-financial support to more than 40 agencies in the area that help those most in need. The organization also works with community partners to address priority social issues in the region.
