
Members appointed to health boards

Boards will take effect Sept. 1, members to serve up to five years

FREDERICTON - The members of the boards that will guide the new governance structure in health care have been appointed.
Health Minister Mike Murphy announced the board members will serve from one to five years and begin their work on Sept. 1.
Board members will receive $500 per meeting, plus related expenses. It's unknown how many meetings will be held each year.
Roughly 100 people applied for each of the four boards. Government began recruiting for the positions in the spring, seeking people who had a background in governance, accounting, finance, law business management, labour relations and human resources, communications or public relations and technology.
The human resources consulting firm Robertson-Surrette screened the applications. Dr. Dennis Furlong, former provincial health minister, and Louis Comeau, an Acadian businessman and former MP, then recommended nominees for the boards.
The new public sector company that will deliver non-clinical shared services is named FacilicorpNB.
Aldéa Landry of Moncton will serve as chairwoman of RHA A, John Laidlaw of Rothesay is the chairman of RHA B, Rino Volpé of Saint-Jacques is chairman of the health council, and Roxanne Fairweather of Saint John is the chairman of FacilicorpNB.
The chairpersons will receive $30,000 annually, plus $500 per meeting as well as additional expenses related to the meetings.
RHA B, based in Miramichi, will oversee health care formerly administered by the South-East, Saint John, Fredericton and Miramichi health authorities.
The board members are: Rod Borden of Saint John, Karen Branscombe of Moncton, Richard Breault of Neguac, Leo Burns of Miramichi, Dr. Natasha Campbell of Moncton, Cathy Carnahan of Chelmsford, Harry Doyle of Lower Coverdale, Bryana Ganong of Canal, Mavis Hurley of Upper Kingsclear, Guy Léger of Quispamsis, Jean-Eudes Levesque of New Maryland, Jim Lutes of Rothesay, Bruce McCubbin of Saint John, Barbara Quigley of Moncton, Wayne Roach of Aroostook and Roxanne Sappier of Tobique First Nation.
RHA A, based in Bathurst, will oversee health care formerly administered by the Campbellton, Edmundston, Beauséjour and Bathurst regional health authorities.
The board members are: Dr. Odette Albert of Ammon, Sandra Bossé of Saint-Quentin, Carmel Brun of Shediac, Adélard Cormier of Saint-Paul-de-Kent, Philippe DesRosiers of Grand Barachois, Tanya Irvine of Campbellton, Ghislaine Landry of Caraquet, Jocelyne Landry of Charlo, Rhéal LeBlanc of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, Shawn Patterson of Bathurst, Lyne Raymond of Campbellton, Jocelyne Roy-Vienneau of Haut-Shippagan, Verne Savage of Grand Falls, Gloria Sock of Big Cove, Anne Soucie of Edmundston and Sister Gaëtane Soucy of Saint-Simon.
The New Brunswick Health Council, based in Moncton, is mandated to help make the health-care system more accountable.
The board members are: Pier Bouchard of Memramcook, Dr. Jeannot Castonguay of Edmundston, Christian Couturier of Fredericton, Gwen Cullins-Jones of Florenceville, Randy Dickinson of Fredericton, Linda Duffett-Leger of Fredericton, Nathalie Godbout of Saint John, Colleen Knudson of Saint John, Barbara Losier of Landry Office, Himanshu Mukherjee of Fredericton, Anne Marie Picone-Ford of Moncton, Daniel Savoie of Moncton, Claudia Simon of Elsipogtog First Nation, Lucien Sonier of Caraquet and Norma Sugden of Miramichi.
FacilicorpNB, based in Saint John, will have board members from the private sector as well as members representing RHA A and RHA B. The private sector members of the board of directors of FacilicorpNB are Curtis Howe of Saint John, Al Lacey of Islandview, Gilles Lepage of Caraquet, Malcolm Little of Riverview, Gerald O'Brien of Kiersteadville, Suzanne Roussel of Moncton and Odette Snow of Moncton.
