The Moncton Museum is holding the exhibition Salt Essentials until Sunday, Jan. 25. Guided tours, workshops and educational materials are free of charge for your school or community group. Salt Essentials is a co-production of the Musee de la nature et des sciences of Sherbrooke and of the Musee de la civilization with the financial assistance of the Department of Canadian Heritage. The Museum is open Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. Admission by donation. The museum is located at 20 Mountain Rd.

The Capitol Theatre Art Gallery is holding an art exhibit by Memramcook woodworker Ray Leger until Monday, Jan. 5. Entrance is free of charge. The Capitol Art Gallery is located in the Irving Lobby of the Capitol Theatre at 811 Main St.

Studio 14 exhibits art from around the world as well as local artists including: David Silverberg, Yvon Gallant, Romeo Savoie, Alex Colville and any more. Also feature Moncton's only dealer of Inuit Art from Northern Canada. Wool art from Denmark, hand-crafted African masks and jewellery, Russian Nesting Dolls and many others. The Gallery Alliance Francaise de Moncton is holding an exhibition of art works by Loretta Poirier of Shediac until Friday, Dec. 19. The Gallery is located at 236 St. George St., Suite 210 and is open Monday-Thursday, from 8:30 a.m.-noon and from 2-5 p.m.

Sandstones Gallery is exhibiting the work of Matt LeBlanc until Saturday, Dec. 20. The vernissage will be Saturday, Nov. 15, from 7-9 p.m. Some of the other featured works include artistic wooden bowls by Rick Gallant, dreamy paintings by Freeda LeBlanc, pottery by Sylvia Bell, exquisite hand-molded beeswax candles by Kurt and Katharina Zeltner, framed photographs by Louis Gagne and hand carved alabaster bowls plus jewelry by Hans Durstling. Galerie d'art du Centre des arts et de la culture -- Art an Culture Center is presenting acrylic work by Jeannette O'Brien until Thursday, Nov 27. The gallery is located at 331 Acadie Ave. Dieppe. Open from Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m.

Gallery 78 is exhibiting the new Rejean Roy exhibition until Sunday, Nov. 30. Upstairs, William Forrestall presents a new collection of his enigmatic egg tempera paintings. The Moncton Public Library is exhibiting items relating to the exploits of Canadian soldiers during the First World War until Saturday, Nov. 29. During the month of November the library is featuring Mentor series with works by David Skyrie and Marc Cormier. The library is located at 644 Main St. and is open Tuesday to Thursday from 9 a.m-8:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

The Irish Room, located in historic Thomas Williams House is open every Friday from 9 a.m.-noon and from 1-3 p.m. and houses genealogical and local history materials related to the Irish in southeastern NB. London-Wul Fibre Arts is hosting the fibre-based works of Moncton native Joanna Close. The exhibit features a series of panels that explore geography and landscape. The Moncton Art Society Gallery is currently exhibiting the work of artist of the month Dorice Richard in its gallery, located in Highfield Square past the Atlantic Lottery booth and Café C'est La Vie. Heron Bay Gallery is showing several new works from its staple of artists including Amber Lounder, Julie Boulianne, Adrien Caissie, Paul Duplessis, Dave Skyrie, Pauline Guay, Jeanne LeBlanc Mullin and Lise Richard. UNB Art Centre has a call for artwork for the exhibition entitled The Future of Peace to open on International Women's Day Sunday, March 8, 2009. Please submit electronic link or DVD with minimum 3, maximum 10 images of original art. Include title, date, size and medium. The Beaverbrook Art Gallery unveils the first of its autumn exhibition line up with Docent's Choice: Canadian Acquisitions from the Past 20 Years and is on exhibition until Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009.
