Man ejected after vehicle flips on highway

A Point de Bute man was killed when his car flipped over on the Trans-Canada Highway in Sackville yesterday morning.
RCMP Cpl. Jean Gosselin says speed and alcohol have been ruled out as factors, but the man wasn't wearing his seat-belt and was ejected from the Hyundai Accent as it rolled over. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and he died at Sackville Hospital.
"I don't know what would have happened if he wore his seat-belt, but it would have helped," says Gosselin.
Police spoke to a driver who had been following the Hyundai since Aulac. The witness said the driver was doing the speed limit at the time of the crash.
The 22-year-old man, whose identity police have not yet released, was travelling to Moncton for work when the incident occurred shortly after 6 a.m. between the Bridge Street and Main Street overpasses in Sackville.
"He went to the left and hit the gravel median and when he tried to turn back onto the highway he flipped the vehicle several times," says Gosselin.
Police don't know what happened to cause the man to lose control but figure he either fell asleep or was struck by a sudden illness.
