Progams to be held in local parks during July and August

A2

The City of Moncton is organizing free children's programs at selected city playgrounds this summer and is inviting parents to join the effort.

During July and August, the city is providing grants to neighbourhood committees who apply to become part of the Neighbourhood Playground Program, explained Jennifer Dallaire, community development officer for recreation for the city.

The grants will allow the committees to hire a playground leader to develop and run programs for children of all ages with different activities for every day. The program leaders will co-ordinate the programs under the guidance of the neighbourhood community groups.

No registration is necessary and no costs are involved.

Those playgrounds where the program will be provided are Alexander Park Playground (Reade & Humphrey Streets); Canadian Heights Playground (Chelsea Road); Codiac Heights Playground (Olympic Crescent); Creek Village Playground (Pleasant & Beech Streets); Evergreen Park Playground (Evergreen Drive); Magnetic Hill Estates (Muirfield Drive); Maplehurst Playground (Maplehurst Drive); Prince Edward Playground (Givan Drive); Sunny Brae Playground (Centre Street), and Moncton Boys & Girls Club (Everett Street).

Parents and guardians taking part in the activities are required to be home and younger children should be accompanied by a parent or guardian when participating in the program.
