Story and song tour

Orthodox Liturgy

Tomorrow, the divine liturgy of the Orthodox Church will be served by Fr. Stephen Allen at 6 p.m. at 27 John St. A shared meal will follow.

The sponsors are the Moncton Orthodox Mission of Saints Mary and Martha and by Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church of Charlottetown.

Moncton-area Orthodox Christians hope to establish an English-language mission, serving all Orthodox Christians in the area.

Vespers services are held each Sunday evening at 6 p.m. and the divine liturgy is served monthly.

Challenges faced

Roman Catholic theologian Gilles Routhier will facilitate a one-day session on the challenges facing the Church 40 years after Vatican II on Tuesday, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Patrice LeBlanc Centre, 91 Murphy Ave., Moncton.

Father Routhier is a writer and professor with the Theology and Religious Sciences Department at Laval University in Quebec City.

New meeting place

The Assembly of Christians that have been meeting in the Moncton Gospel Hall at 195 Mountain Rd., Moncton, are planning a new and larger building east of the former Atlantic Baptist College on Salisbury Road.

Temporary meetings will be at 161 Salisbury Road in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church thanks to the kindness and co-operation of the church.

Sunday meetings has the Lord's Supper at 9:30 a.m., Sunday School and ministry at 11:30 a.m. and Gospel meeting at 7 p.m. Prayer and Bible Study will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Christ in Action

Christ in Action Centre (CAE) teaches the principles leading to the healing of the human as a whole (body, soul and spirit) by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

CAE will discuss the different life situations that require healing, the role of God and of the human being in the healing process; the different types of diseases and problems and their origin according to the Bible, the different circumstances involved in the recovery process with Biblical examples of miracle healings.

Quilt show

The Humphrey Memorial United Church is holding a quilt show Saturday, Oct. 31, featuring the Heritage Quilt (commissioned by Maritime Conference of the United Church) as well as other art and handwork projects.

Oberammergau Passion Play

The Oberammergau Passion Play which chronicles Christ's final passion and is performed every 10 years, takes place in the Village of Oberammergau, Germany, from May until September 2010.

The original performance dates back to 1634 when the village was spared the black plague for which the villagers vowed they would give a play in honour of the life of Christ every 10 years.

A Gospel music concert will be held Sunday, Nov. 8, at 2:30 p.m. at the Hillsborough Kiwanis Center with music by the Gospel Way Bluegrass of Burtt's Corner, N.H., the A & W's Judy Ayles of Salisbury, Kim Wilmot of Curryville, Mac Wilmot of Lower Coverdale and Norm Babineau of Weldon.
