Tickets for Feb. 3 show go on sale Saturday

Guns N' Roses will make their third trip to Metro Moncton in the new year, bringing their Chinese Democracy World Tour to the Coliseum on Wednesday, Feb. 3.

Tickets for the Moncton concert will go on sale this Saturday for $54.50 and $69.50. They will also perform in Halifax on Thursday, Feb. 4.

Guns N' Roses, featuring lead singer Axl Rose, played in Moncton twice before: as opening act for The Cult on Aug. 15, 1987; and with Iron Maiden on May 13, 1988. They are best known for heavy-rock anthems like Welcome To The Jungle, Paradise City and Sweet Child Of Mine.

Formed in Los Angeles in 1985, the band's 1987 album Appetite for Destruction is considered a rock classic and the source of its biggest hits.

The band gained a reputation for its "hedonistic rebelliousness" and released six studio albums and one live album but has also gone through numerous lineup changes and controversies. Guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan went on to form Velvet Revolver. Singer Axl Rose remained and the band took up to 10 years to complete the current album, Chinese Democracy, which was released in 2008.

The current Guns N' Roses lineup includes singer Axl Rose along with Frank Ferrer, Tommy Stinson, Richard Fortus, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, Dizzy Reed, and Chris Pitman. The new guitarist is D.J. Ashba.

The band is expected to begin rehearsals soon in Los Angeles for the Chinese Democracy world tour, which begins in Asia on Dec. 11.

Guns N' Roses last toured the world in 2006-07, performing 60 concerts in 26 countries playing to more than a million fans.

* Guns N' Roses will appear at the Moncton Coliseum on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 8 p.m., at the Moncton Coliseum and Thursday, Feb. 4 at the Halifax Metro Centre. Commical......

There is something deeply troubled about a person who would pay $70 to go to a show to throw bottles at someone......... yeah, but I'm the one you laugh at everyday....... very troubling.

I was a big fan of Guns when Appetite came out. This is not Guns 'N Roses, despite the name they are touring under. I'd be first in line if it was the real band... I'm not even going to this show. I hope everyone that goes has a great time, and I'm sure it will 'sound' like them... but it's basically a cover band fronted by their vocalist.
