ANTIGONISH, N.S. - Students at a school in northeastern Nova Scotia got an early start to the weekend after a fire broke out yesterday.

Officials with the Strait Regional School Board say a small motor in the technology education shop at the East Antigonish Education Centre overheated and caught fire, sending thick smoke throughout the building. Students were evacuated with no reports of injuries. Board officials will assess over the weekend and advise the public whether classes will resume Monday.
