WorkSafeNB recently recognized Irving Personal Care for its efforts in improving health and safety practices in the workplace.
Irving Personal Care (IPC), Canada's only manufacturer of baby diapers and training pants is based in Dieppe.
The plant operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and employs 140 full-time workers.
Since opening its doors in 2004, the company has almost doubled its workforce while reducing its frequency of lost-time claims by
53 per cent, 33 per cent below the industry average.
Irving Personal Care owes its performance to on-the-job training and financial incentives that puts safety first.
"Our active Joint Health and Safety Committee listens very closely to employee needs and acts quickly to rectify identified hazards," said Daniel Arseneau, Environmental Health and Safety Manager for Irving Personal Care.
"That everyday commitment has led to our success in reducing incidents and promoting employee moral," said Arseneau.
"We appreciate this recognition from WorkSafeNB," said Robert Irving, President of Irving Personal Care.
"Nothing is more important than the health, safety and well-being of our employees, contractors and visitors to our facility.
"We are proud of the men and women at Irving Personal Care who continue to practice their commitment to health and safety everyday," said Irving.
WorkSafeNB also recognized Foyer Ste. Elizabeth, a nursing home in Baker-Brook, for reducing its high injury frequency rate to become a model for the nursing home industry.
"These companies are proof that safety pays," said David Greason, vice-president of WorkSafeNB's WorkSafe Services Division.
"We hope other workplaces are inspired by their commitments and their results," said Greason.
