Adam leads QMJHL past Russians 8-3

Canadian squad win Game 2 of Super Series

SHAWINIGAN, Que. - Luke Adam scored twice and added two assists as the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League all-stars thumped the Russian Selects 8-3 in the second game of the Super Series last night.

The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles centre opened the scoring just over two minutes into the game as the QMJHL came out strong on the heels of their 3-1 win in the series opener Monday.

After the Russians fought back to take a 2-1 lead after one, Kelsey Tessier scored on the power play for the QMJHL at 5:07 of the second and Adam scored his second of the night just over three minutes later for a 3-2 lead.

Gabriel Bourque, Marc-Olivier Vachon, Philippe Cornet, Jacob Lagace and Nicolas Deschamps also scored for the Quebec all-stars.

Lagace added three assists, while Deschamps, Philippe Paradis and Charles-Olivier Roussel had two each.

Kirill Petrov, with a goal and an assist, Maxim Kitsyn and Nikita Pivtsakin replied for the Russians. Dmitri Kostromitin added two assists of his own.

Maxime Clermont made 11 saves to pick up the win before being replaced by Louis Domingue, who made 12 saves in relief.

Igor Bobkov allowed eight goals on 43 shots in the Russian net.

The Russians travel to Barrie, Ont., to face the Ontario Hockey League all-stars for Game 3 of the series Thursday. Game 4 goes Monday in Windsor, Ont.

The QMJHL squad includes four members of the Moncton Wildcats: Brandon Gormley, David Savard, Domingue and Mark Barberio.
