Colts, Giants expected to come out on top
Published Saturday November 21st, 2009

The following are my NFL picks for Week 11 of the season. They are done strictly on which teams I think will win and which ones I think will lose -- not with or against the odds. I finished with a 9-6 mark last week, bringing my season's won-loss record after Week 10 to 96-48. The marque match-up this weekend is San Diego at Denver who are in a dead heat for the lead in the AFC West. Here goes:
Indianapolis at Baltimore: Take Indianapolis. This has some potential for an upset as the Colts could have a let-down after their emotional win over the arch-rival Patriots. But is hard to bet against a 9-0 team.
New Orleans at Tampa Bay: Take New Orleans. This is probably the closest to a lock among this weekend's games. The Saints should remain unbeaten.
Atlanta at New York Giants: Take New York. After losing four games in a row following a 5-0 start, the Giants could not have had a better time than last week for their bye week. This gave them a chance to iron out their problems.
Seattle at Minnesota: Take Minnesota. The Seahawks have been terrible on the road and have defensive problems That is not a good combination to take against a tough Vikings' squad.
Pittsburgh at Kansas City: Take Pittsburgh. This could be a closer than expected game as the Chiefs play well at home. But the Steelers' superior talent will win out in the end.
Buffalo at Jacksonville: Take Jacksonville. The Jaguars have been inconsistent but at times, good this season. The Bills have been consistently bad.
Washington at Dallas: Take Dallas. The Redskin and Cowboy defences match up fairly well, but the latter has a big advantage on the offensive side of the line.
Cleveland at Detroit: Take Detroit. The result of two bad teams (each with only one win in this case) playing each other is just as hard to predict as that of two good teams. So, let's go with the home team.
San Francisco at Green Bay: Take Green Bay. This could very well be a trap game, with the '49ers improved defence and the Pack's suspect blocking line. But the '49ers offence have trouble putting up points.
Arizona at St. Louis: Take Arizona. The Cardinals have been hot, lately They are starting to look like the team that almost won the Super Bowl last season.
San Diego at Denver: Take Denver. This should be a super battle for first in the AFC West between these two long-time rivals. Although the injury status of their quarterback Kyle Orton worries me, I still like the Broncos' chances at home in this one.
Cincinnati at Oakland: Take Cincinnati. The improved Bengals have already beaten both Pittsburgh and Baltimore -- twice. I can't see them having any problems against the hapless Raiders.
New York Jets at New England: Take New England. The Patriots have two strong incentives to win this one. They are to avenge their loss to the Jets earlier this year and to try to blank from their memory coach Bill Belichick's disastrous decision to go for fourth down on his own 28-yard line last weekend.
Philadelphia at Chicago: Take Philadelphia. Both these teams have struggled this year, but I will take Eagles' quarterback Donovan McNabb any day over his Bears' counterpart Jake Cutler.
Tennessee at Houston: Take Houston. The Titans are playing better since the switch to Vince Young as quarterback. But the Texans should be able to take advantage of their weak pass defence.
