Purple Knights thump Trojans

Jordan Bedard poured in 35 points and the Moncton High Purple Knights defeated the Harrison Trimble Trojans 82-58 in Northeast Conference senior boys AAA high school basketball action last night.

It was the first conference game of the season for both teams.

Dylan Rogers added 15 points for the Purple Knights, who led 34-29 at halftime. Steve Fox led the Trojans with 27 points while Zack Pavlovic helped out with nine.

GIRLS

Harrison Trimble fell 61-54 to the Dr. J.H. Gillis Royals of Antigonish, N.S, yesterday at the Cobequid Educational Centre girls tip-off tournament in Truro, N.S.

Danielle LeBlanc led the Trojans with 17 points while Kelly Vass contributed seven and Elaine Gillis had six.

Harrison Trimble plays the Parkview Panthers of Bridgewater, N.S. and host Cobequid Cougars today.

Meanwhile, the Sussex Sonics downed the St. Malachy's Saints 81-60 in a Southwest Conference senior girls AAA game Thursday.

Brittany Mallory scored 29 points and Madeline Belding added 23 for the Sonics. Leanne Davis netted 14 points for the Saints.
