Tigers rally for win

CAMPBELLTON - The Campbellton Tigers won just their third game of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League season last night, a 5-3 victory over the Halifax Lions here.

Campbellton trailed 3-1 entering the third period, but exploded for four goals in the final frame to get the win. Lee Chuck Denny, with a pair, Zack Evans-Renaud, Jeremy Beresh and Zethariah Zielinski scored for the Tigers, last in the Roger Meek Division with a 3-14-2-1 record. John Ryan Francis had two assists and Evans-Renaud one in the win.

Evans-Renaud's goal at 6:18 of the third tied the game 3-3 and Beresh followed with the game winner at 10:03 to complete the comeback.

Chris Riquse scored twice and Ben Clarke also tallied for the Lions (6-9-2-0).

John Hillier stopped 23 shots for Campbellton. Ben Clarke made 26 saves for Halifax.

In other games last night, the Bridgewater Lumberjacks edged the Summerside Western Capitals 6-5 and Woodstock Slammers beat the Pictou County Weeks Crushers 3-0.

The Dieppe Commandos (6-13-0-1) host Woodstock tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Arthur J. LeBlanc Centre. The Slammers, with Moncton native Andre Guay in their cage, are first overall with a staggering 18-0-0-1 record.

In other games tonight, Halifax visits the Miramichi Timberwolves at 7:30 p.m. while the Amherst Ramblers journey to Truro to take on the Bearcats.

Tomorrow, Dieppe is in Campbellton for a 2 p.m. contest.
