HAMILTON, Ont. - The search for a prisoner who made a daring escape from a Hamilton, Ont., hospital has gone national.

Investigators have arranged to have Fawad Ahmed Nouri, 25, included on the RCMP's most wanted fugitive list.

Nouri was being escorted by two jail guards as he left Hamilton General Hospital on Tuesday, when two armed men wearing masks jumped the guards and freed the prisoner.

Hamilton police have released images of two suspects from a hospital surveillance video and another of a third man -- a person of interest -- from a camera at the Hamilton Detention Centre.

Police say Nouri was at the hospital to be treated for a bullet wound suffered during an armed robbery at a Tim Hortons earlier this year.

He had been at the detention centre awaiting trial on numerous charges, including armed robbery and forcible confinement.
