FREDERICTON - The report of the Liberal government's working group on post-secondary education will be released by the end of the current legislative sitting, says Post Secondary Education Minister Ed Doherty.

"We hope to have the PSE report released during the session of the legislature," he said.

Doherty says he has read the report, but he says there are still some details to be finalized.

The working group was assembled following the release of controversial recommendations by the province's commission on post-secondary education.

The commission sparked waves of controversy when it recommended that the province transform the University of New Brunswick in Saint John and the northern Université de Moncton into polytechnic institutes.

Premier Shawn Graham assembled a working group, comprised of university presidents and community college principals, to study the controversial recommendations.

Naturally they are going to release it in the middle of the summer when they hope that students and faculty are away.
