In an all-Moncton final, the Terry Odishaw rink downed Russ Howard 6-3 yesterday to capture the third annual Sounds Fantastic Early Bird Challenge held at Curling Beausejour Inc.

In what kicks off the official start of the Maritime curling season, Odishaw navigated through the 16-team field with a quarter-final victory over Rick Perron (Beaver Curling Club).

The championship rink followed that up with a 6-5 semifinal triumph over Brett Gallant (Charlottetown).

Russ Howard made his way to the final by downing Ryan Garvin (Halifax) in the quarter-final and beating Jeremy Mallais (Beausejour) 7-1.

Other quarter-inal matchups saw Mallais defeat Andrea Kelly (Fredericton) and Gallant down Marie-Anne Arsenault (Halifax).
