Penguins snap Habs' winning streak

PITTSBURGH - Sidney Crosby had his third career hat trick and the Pittsburgh Penguins became the first NHL team to reach 10 victories this season, snapping the Montreal Canadiens' four-game winning streak with a 6-1 victory last night.

Crosby, tied for fourth in the NHL with nine goals, had his third multiple-goal game in 12 starts this season for Pittsburgh (10-2-0).

Chris Kunitz also scored and assisted on all three of Crosby's goals. Mike Rupp and Alex Goligoski added goals, and Bill Guerin had three assists.

Marc-Andre Fleury made 23 saves, allowing only Tomas Plekanec's power-play goal.

Montreal's Jaroslav Halak stopped 19 of 23 shots before he was pulled after the second period.

Crosby extended his point streak to five games, completing a hat trick during the first 36 minutes, giving him nine goals in October for the first time in his career.

Last season, Crosby's ninth goal came a full month later on Nov. 28.

Stars 4 Maple Leafs 3 (OT)

At Dallas, James Neal scored 2:57 into overtime to give the Dallas Stars a 4-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Toronto rookie Jonas Gustavsson stopped Stephane Robidas' shot from long range, but Neal skated hard to the net to knock in the rebound for his first career overtime goal.

Brad Richards scored twice, Mike Ribeiro added a goal, and Marty Turco made 33 saves for the Stars.

Nikolai Kulemin had two goals, Lee Stempniak struck on the power play, and Jason Blake had three assists for Toronto.

The Maple Leafs lost their first eight games before beating Anaheim 6-3 on the road Monday night, but Toronto was unable to string together a second straight win.

At Sunrise, Fla., Nick Foligno and Jarkko Ruutu scored in a 38-second span late in the second period to lead Ottawa over Florida.

Islanders 3 Rangers 1

At Uniondale, N.Y., Islanders captain Doug Weight, in his first game back following a bout with swine flu, earned an assist on Kyle Okposo's tiebreaking, power-play goal late in the second period.

Blues 5 Hurricanes 2

At Raleigh, N.C., David Perron had two goals, Yan Stastny and Jay McClement scored 16 seconds apart, and Chris Mason made 34 saves for St. Louis.

Sabres 4 Devils 1

At Newark, N.J., Clarke MacArthur and Tim Kennedy scored early in the first period, and Ryan Miller made 31 saves to help Buffalo improve to 4-0 on the road.

Coyotes 4 Blue Jackets 1

At Columbus, Ohio, Martin Hanzal, Zbynek Michalek and Robert Lang scored power-play goals, and Jason LaBarbera made 31 saves for Phoenix.

Sidney Crosby was simply a magician. They showed My Habs were not in the same league as the Pens. Florida pathetic attendance reared its ugly head with 12k. The Quebec Remparts get that attendance. I think its about time Ryan Miller gets his due. The Sabres are winning with a team that is blue collar but make no mistake its all about Ryan Miller
