Quebec conference teams dominate tourney

The host Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues lost all four of their matches at a university women's volleyball interlock tournament between Atlantic and Quebec conference teams at the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud on the weekend.
The tournament marked the first matches of the regular season for all of the teams.
Quebec conference teams dominated the tournament -- they didn't lose a match. The Montreal Carabins, Laval Rouge et Or, McGill Martlets and Sherbrooke Vert et Or each went 4-0. Moncton, University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds, Cape Breton Capers and Memorial Sea-Hawks were all 0-4. The Aigles Bleues fell 3-0 to No. 2 nationally-ranked Montreal in their final match yesterday. Scores were: 25-13, 25-17, 25-19.
Moncton also lost a pair of matches on Saturday, 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-10) to No. 5 Laval and 3-1 (21-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-18) to Sherbrooke.
The Aigles Bleues opened the tournament with a 3-0 loss to No. 9 McGill Friday.
The matches count in the regular-season standings.
ACAA Women
The Mount Allison Mounties opened the Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association women's volleyball season with a pair of weekend wins.
Mount Allison beat the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics 3-1 yesterday in Sackville. Scores were: 25-21, 25-20, 24-26, 25-16. Vanessa Gray had 11 kills and 14 digs for the Mounties.
Mount Allison also blanked the Universite Sainte-Anne Dragons 3-0 Saturday in Sackville. Scores were: 25-18, 25-11, 25-22. Caila Henderson recorded nine kills, two aces and four digs for the Mounties.
