Acadia beats UdeM 3-2 in AUS men's hockey action

Things aren't getting any easier for the Université de Monction Aigles Bleus in Atlantic University Sport men's hockey.

The Aigles Bleus dropped a 3-2 decision to the Acadia Axemen last night at the J.-Louis Levesque Arena and their record fell to 2-6.

UdeM remains tied in the league basement with the 1-4-2 Dalhousie Tigers. Both clubs have four points.

Last night, a goal by David Lomas at 17:01 of the third period proved to be the winner for the Axemen, who dominated in the shots on goal department -- 37-28.

Nathan Weldon in the second and Zack Firlotte in the sixth minute of the third period completed the scoring for the winners. Marc-André Côté replied with both Aigles Bleus goals, the first at 9:36 of the first period and the second at 19:20 of the third period.

UdeM led 1-0 after the first period while the clubs entered the third period deadlocked at 1-1.

UdeM will try to get back on the winning track tonight when they host the No. 4 nationally ranked St. Mary's Huskies at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Levesque Arena.

The Huskies, whose scheduled game with the St. Thomas Tommies was postponed last night, have a record of 3-2-0 for six points.

In other games last night, it was: UPEI 5, Dalhousie 3 and UNB 4 St. FX 3 (OT).

Other scheduled games tonight see UPEI at St. FX, UNB at Dalhousie and Acadia at St. Thomas.
