The environmental biology student from the University of Guelph placed ninth in a field of 131 runners at the CIS championships Saturday at Fort Henry Hill in Kingston, Ont.

Collette native Jean-Marc Doiron of the Universite dé Moncton shaved 35 seconds off his personal best time and was 91st in a field of 130 in the men's division.

Meanwhile, the University of Guelph once again dominated the championships. The Gryphon women's squad won its fifth straight team title, while the men earned their fourth consecutive national banner.

Guelph became the most successful cross-country program in CIS history with the most banners captured by a single school, with 15.

"Our main goal all season was to win the team banners again," said Guelph head coach Dave Scott-Thomas, named both CIS women's and men's coach of the year for the fourth straight campaign. "It was a battle out there and our teams held strong. We also broke three major records today which is great."

Guelph's Matt Brunsting won his second straight men's title. University of Toronto's Megan Brown, of Guelph, won the women's championship.
