Midget Hawks post win over Kennebecasis
QUISPAMSIS -- Moncton Hawks defeated Kennebecasis hawks 4-1 in N.B. Central Midget AA Hockey Leaguue play here Saturday.
Bryan Stewart, Mike Steadman, Blake Williams and Brandon Guimond scored for Moncton while David Harley replied for Kennebecasis.
Miguel De'Arcos was in goal for Moncton while Dawson Losier tended the Kennebecasis cage.
Moncton will compete in the Veteran Memorial hockey tournament this weekend in Charlottetown.
Codiac Soccer AGM slated for Sunday
The annual general meeting of Codiac Soccer will be held Sunday at the Red Ball Internet Centre.
The meeting will take place in the second floor meeting room beginning at 7 p.m.
Parents, volunteers and coaches are invited to attend and hear annual reports from the 2009 season and plans for 2010.
Red Bombers win first AFL title
SAINT JOHN -- University of New Brunswick Red Bombers won the first ever Atlantic Football League championship Saturday.
Red Bombers upset the first-place UNB-Saint John Sea-Wolves 3-1 at Millidgeville Field.
The Sea-Wolves had a 4-0 record during the regular season and the Bombers were 1-3.
V-ball registration deadline Thursday
The registration deadline for the 12th annual Volleyball New Brunswick Senior Open, scheduled for Dec. 5-6 at the Moncton Coliseum Agrena, is Thursday.
More than 50 teams from all over Eastern Canada are expected to compete. Registration is $300, all teams are guaranteed four matches.

Stringers take U14 ringette title
NEPEAN, Ont. -- South-East Stringers, with players from Dieppe, Moncton and Riverview, captured the under-14 title at the 22nd annual Nepean Ringette Tournament during the weekend.
Stingers defeated Ottawa 6-3 in the championship game.
Stingers downed Nepean 6-2 in a semifinal game. Meanwhile, N.B.'s belle provincial team captured the silver medal in the under-19 division. Stratford, Ont. shaded the provincial team 3-2 in the final.
Hockey players top UdeM athletes
Hockey players Kevin Lachance of Vanier, Que. and Valérie Boisclair of Saint-Léonard-d'Aston, Que., have been chosen Subway athletes of the week at l'Université de Moncton.
Kevin Lachance made a 26 saves in the 4-1 victory for the Aigles Bleus over the St. Thomas Tommies.
Boisclair scored a goal in each of the two weekend victories that lifted the Aigles Bleues to second spot in the Atlantic University Sport women's hockey standings.
Golfer scores hole-in-one
Gord Watson, who has been a member of Moncton Golf and Country Club for 50 years, carded a hole-in-one at the club last Friday.
Watson used an eight iron to record an ace on the 138-yard 17th hole. He finished his round with 73.
Watson was playing with Denis Gingras (77) and Brian Deware (79).
Gymnos club to take registrations soon
Beausejour Gymnos Gymnastics Club will soon take registrations for the upcoming season.
Registrations are set for Nov. 30-Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Dud James Arena on Limerick Street in Moncton.
