Tommies beat hoops Vedettes

Allison MacDonald threw in 17 points and led the James M. Hill Tommies to a 64-30 victory over the Mathieu-Martin Vedettes in a Northeast Conference AAA junior girls basketball game Wednesday night in Dieppe.

Hannah Williston added eight points for the Tommies, who led 36-14 at halftime.

Anik Gautreau had 12 points for the Vedettes and Natasha Gould contributed eight.

* Bernice MacNaughton Highlanders ran their record to 6-0 Wednesday night by beating the hometown Miramichi Valley Pulamoo 85-34 in Northeast Conference AAA junior boys basketball play.

All 11 Highlanders hit the scoresheet. Kyle McConnell led the offence with 28 points while Kyle Horsman added 10. David Adams, Takoda Sullivan and Zach Thorne each chipped in with eight points.

Nigel Augustine replied with 11 points for the Pulamoo.
