
Synchro swimmers capture medals


CHARLOTTETOWN - Tiffany Murray of Moncton was a double gold medal winner at the Atlantic Synchronized swimming championships for Tier 1--5 held here over the weekend.
A total of 192 contestants, including a team from Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, took part in the championship.
Murray captured the gold medal in the 12 and under girls tier 2 figures and solo.
Julie Bastarache took home the gold medal in the girls open and teamed with Kathryn Black to finish second in duet.
Bastarache, Black, Kara Daley, Nathalie Dupuis and Jordan Eaton captured the gold medal in the team competition.
In tier 3, open class, Kara Daley won the gold medal in figures and finished second to Bastarache in solo.
In fact, it was a Moncton sweep of the class with Bastarache winning gold, Daley silver, Black bronze and Nathalie Dupuis finishing fourth.
In 13 and over, tier 2, Josée Belliveau captured the gold medal in solo and was fourth in figures.
Veronique Cyr and Danielle Jamieson were second in 12 and under tier 2 duet.
Meanwhile, during the awards ceremony, Moncton coach Carol Daley was named the Atlantic coach of the year.
