Moncton Tim Hortons Cubs will be looking to improve on their modest winning streak when they host the N.B. Selects in a N.B. Junior Baseball League doubleheader tonight.

Tonight's first game is slated for 6 p.m. at Kiwanis Park while the second game will follow about a half hour after the opening game is completed.

Cubs opened their season with a pair of victories -- 10-0 and 6-1 -- over the Bathurst Eagles on Sunday.

Justin Morton tossed a no-hitter in the opening game against Bathurst in a game that was called after five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule. Morton struck out six and walked none. He also helped out his own cause with a 2-run triple.

Norris Philpotts took the hill setback.

In the second game against Bathurst, Ben Sollows was the winning pitcher.

Sollows allowed one run, one hit, fanned seven and walked three in five innings of work.

Serge Vautour collected a three-run double for the Cubs in the fourth inning.

Andrew Carter was the losing Bathurst pitcher.

Robert Mason is in his fourth year as coach of the Cubs.

Also tonight, Chatham Ironmen host Bathurst at 7:30 p.m.

Cubs will also host the P.E.I. Selects in a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. at Kiwanis Park.
