Parlee hosts v-ball event

POINTE-DU-CHENE - Forty-nine teams from Atlantic Canada are headed to Parlee Beach for Volleyball New Brunswick's Atlantic beach volleyball championships beginning tomorrow.

Champions will be crowned in seven divisions -- senior men, senior women, 21-and-under men, 21-and-under women, 18-and-under men, 16-and-under boys and 16-and-under girls.

In all, 39 teams will be competing from New Brunswick while P.E.I. and Nova Scotia are each sending five teams.

Participating teams will qualify to compete at the Volleyball Canada national beach volleyball championships in Toronto Aug. 29-31.

Round Robin play starts tomorrow at 8 a.m. with elimination playoffs beginning on Sunday and divisional championship matches starting at noon.
