Whelan makes cut at golf event

WINNIPEG - Jennifer Whelan of the Riverside Country Club at Rothesay posted a score of 86 in the third round of the Royale Canadian junior women's golf championship here yesterday.

After scores of 81-86 in the first two rounds, Whelan was the only New Brunswick player to make the cut. In the championship, Nicole Vandermade of Brantford, Ont. (74-74-72), and SooBin Kim of Port Coquitlam, B.C. (74-73-73) share the overall lead after 54 holes at 4-over-par 220.

The final round is billed today.
