New tours tracing Lincoln assassination

WASHINGTON - Tourists can get a new look at Abraham Lincoln's assassination with the help of a crime detective brought back from 1865.

Ford's Theatre is currently closed for renovations, but it's offering new scripted walking tours that extend beyond the site where Lincoln was shot. The 1.4-mile tour runs from Ford's Theatre in downtown Washington to the White House.

The tours are led by a costumed actor playing Detective James McDevitt, a real investigator on duty with Washington's Metropolitan Police Department when the president was killed.

Tours of the "investigation" began June 20 and continue through August. Tickets are $12 each or $10 each for groups of 20 or more.
