FORT LANGLEY, B.C. - Five tonnes of fresh cranberries will be on sale at the 13th annual Fort Langley Cranberry Festival, which celebrates the fall harvest.

There will also be farm tours where visitors can view cranberry harvest demonstrations.

British Columbia is major producer of cranberries, with many farms in the Langley area.

The Oct. 11 festival, which draws 15,000 to 20,000 visitors annually, includes a cranberry-pie eating contest, a cranberry hunt at the Fort Langley National Historic Site, a cranberry count contest (guess the number of berries in a wooden barrel) and presentations on the history of the cranberry industry.

Berries will be priced at $3 a pound (less for bulk orders of 100 pounds or more). Fort Langley is about a 45-minute drive east of Vancouver.
